    Prof. Ding Lie-yun

    President, Huazhong University of Science and Technology

    Former President of Northeastern University, Former Party Secretary of Huazhong Normal University and Former Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology

    Prof. Lie-yun Ding is currently the President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the former President of Northeastern University, the former Party Secretary of Huazhong Normal University and the former Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He was also a professor, doctor, doctoral adviser of the Engineering Management Department of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

    In recent years he has taken charge of several important projects in the Tenth Five-Year Plan, National Natural Science Foundation, and numerous scientific researches supported by the Province or the Ministry. 

    He is also very active in various organizations and advisory groups related to science and technology. He is now :

    • A member of the Science Committee in the Ministry of Education,
    • The Deputy Director of the Committee of Engineering Management Education in Universities
    • The Vice Chairman of the Hubei Institute of System Engineering, and
    • The Vice Chairman of the Wuhan Association for Science and Technology.

    Prof. Kang Ke-jun

    Professor, Department of Engineering Physics of Tsinghua University

    Former Vice President of Tsinghua University

    Professor Kang Kejun, a physicist and an expert on Radiation Imaging

    Awarded with B.S. (1982), M.S. (1984) and Ph.D. (1988) in Dept. of Engineering Physics of Tsinghua University, he had been appointed as the Director of the State Lab. of Particle Technology and Radiation Imaging located in Tsinghua University in 1994, meanwhile, appointed as Deputy Dean of Dept. of Engineering Physics of Tsinghua University in 1995 and became the Dean of the department in 2002. In the year of 2004, he was appointed as Vice President of Tsinghua University being in charge of research affairs.

    Prof. Kang has engaged in research on Radiation Imaging since 1982, including Particle Detection and Electronics, Signal Processing, Data Acquisition, Image Reconstruction and Processing, etc. During the period of M.D. study, he developed some creative image processing methods for gamma camera of nuclear medicine. Attributing to his successfully designing and developing the first Experimental Industry CT System in China, he was honored with “Excellent Doctor Thesis of Tsinghua University” in 1988. He had participated the HERA project of DESY in Hamburg of Germany from 1989 to 1991, specializing in superconducting cavities’ testing.

    Being the leader of the special project, Prof. Kang acquired several innovation achievements on the research of “Large Container Inspection Technology”, one of the National Scientific “Tackle Key Problem” Programs sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Under his leadership, the research achievements have been successfully transferred into industrialization, and a high-tech company, Nuctech Company Ltd. was founded in 1997. The series products of “Large Container Inspection System”, known as “THSCAN”, are equipped in large quantity by the Customs both in China and worldwide. It has created huge social and commercial benefits. The new invented Mobile and Relocatable Container/Cargo Inspection System with linear accelerator as the radiation source won the First-Class National Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of China in 2003.

    Prof. Zou Cai-rong

    President, Guangzhou University

    Former President of Foshan University, Former Vice President of Southeast University

    Prof. Zou is currently the President of Guangzhou University, the former President of Foshan University and the former Vice President of Southeast University. He is a specialist in telecommunication engineering. He has been a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Concordia University in Canada.

    He is also very active in various organizations and advisory groups related to science and technology. He is now : 

    • A Committee Member of the Research Institute of Higher Education Scientific Research Management
    • The Chairman of the Nanjing Youth Association for Science and Technology
    • The Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Research Institute of Science and Research Management
