Originated from United States in 1974, the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing research to life by supporting and enhancing the global academic technology transfer profession through education, professional development, partnering and advocacy. AUTM has grown to the largest university technology transfer association worldwide in the number of members.

AUTM Asia has become a major technology transfer event for the region since 2011 with representatives from universities, research institutions, government agencies and industry partners gathering at the hosting cities of Beijing, Singapore, Kyoto, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur. The AUTM Asia 2016 was hosted by National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), National Science Technology and Innovation Policy Office (STI) and Office of Higher Education Commission (OHEC) of Thailand at Chiangmai. The first 2 days were pre-conference workshops giving a “Start to Finish” overview of technology transfer, and the other 2 days were conference days themed “Gateway to ASEAN, an Emerging Dynamic Market”. Prominent speakers in the field from all continents were invited to provide latest updates in essential tools of technology transfer, intellection property and technology management.
