ISTA Secretariat coordinated nine member universities (including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northeastern University, University of Science and Technology of China and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) to jointly participate in the 42nd International Exhibition of Inventions which was held in Geneva between 2 and 6 April of 2014. 37 inventions from the member universities were showcased along with more than 1,000 other entries from 45 countries. All the inventions from ISTA were highly praised by the judging panels and were awarded 2 grand prizes, 4 special gold medals, 4 special awards, 16 gold medals and 17 silver medals (details please see the attachment). The ISTA delegation had also attracted massive media coverage.
ISTA member universities had achieved outstanding results in the exhibition six years in a row, a solid proof on their research capabilities which are internationally acclaimed.
During the exhibition, the delegation visited the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) under the coordination of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Ambassador Wu Hailong, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of UNOG, subsequently visited the ISTA pavilions at the exhibition to learn more about the participating projects / innovations.
